How do I become a “Sponsored Participant”?
Become a Sponsored Participant simply by raising $1200 for Crossroads Clinic! Most participants get friends
and family to sponsor their walk or run, but a Sponsored Participant takes their support of LIFE to a whole
new level by raising $1200! You don’t register as a “Sponsored Participant” or have to commit to raising $1200—you simply become a Sponsored Participant when you’ve reached at least $1200 in sponsorships.
Those who become Sponsored Participants will receive a specially-designed, high-quality, Dri-Fit T-Shirt and a Garmin Forerunner® 25 GPS Watch and Activity Tracker. Having raised at least $1200, their name will also be entered at least 4 times in the Grand Prize drawing.
How much does it cost to participate in the Walk for Life?
There is no cost/fee for the Walk portion of the event. However since this is a fundraiser for Crossroads Clinic, we encourage people to participate by raising funds or sponsoring themselves. More info can be found here.
What are the fundraising prizes this year?
Raise $25: Rescue Me T-Shirt. Raise $200: Entered for a chance to win Ray Ban sunglasses with case ($160 value). Raise $500: JAM XT Extreme Wireless Speaker (choose from blue, red, black, or pink). Grand Prize: For every $300 you raise, you’ll be entered for a chance to win a 42-mm Apple Sport Watch! Must be present to win the Grand Prize. How much does it cost to participate in the 5k Run?
There is a $25 registration fee (per runner) or $50 (per family) required to participate in the 5k. Registration includes a 2016 Rescue Me t-shirt. A $100 gift certificate to OK Runner will be awarded to the first overall male and female finisher. Medals will be given to the top three in each age group (standard 5 year divisions) at 9:40 under the Pavilion by the YMCA. Any additional prizes (not pertaining to the 5k) will be given to fundraising walkers/runners based on their individual fundraising. Every runner in the 5k must register separately.
How do I get my race registration packet?
Please arrive early Saturday, September 17th—between 7:30 and 8:30 am—to receive your packet, including your running bib provided by OK Runner. Pre-Registered Packet Pickup and Race Day Registration will take place in the Staging Area near the Start/Finish line.
Is this an official 5k? How will I know my time?
Yes. This race is USATF sanctioned and the course is certified (OK14004KH). The timing will be based off the pull tab system from your running bib. IMPORTANT NOTE: DO NOT TEAR OFF THE BOTTOM PART OF YOUR RUNNING BIB! A computerized printout of race times will be available at the event. All results will be posted online within 1 week after the event.
Where exactly is the 5k Run/Walk for Life?
The event is held at Mitch Park, 1501 W Covell Rd, Edmond—which is located on W Covell Rd between
Kelly Ave and Santa Fe. Enter the park through the main entrance (Marilyn Williams Dr) off of Covell and follow the signs to the 5k area or follow Marilyn Williams Dr past the YMCA to the Walk for Life event site under the big picnic pavilion. View maps of both the 5k and Walk for Life routes here.
May I bring my dog to the Rescue Me 5k Run/Walk for Life?
This event is welcome to dogs. We ask that you abide by city park regulations (dogs on leash, picking up after them). And due to there being unfamiliar people and children, we also ask that you use your discretion and bring only friendly dogs.
I can’t Walk or Run that day, may I still participate?
Yes! You can still raise funds and walk in your own neighborhood at any time. You can fundraise online or mail or drop off any pledge sheets or monies collected at Crossroads Clinic, 3077 E College, Guthrie OK 73044.
I’m volunteering, where do I go that morning?
Check in at the VOLUNTEER CHECK-IN table and you’ll be signed in, given your name badge, and directed where to go. We encourage you to allow yourself a little extra time for parking and checking in. Thank you for choosing to serve with us at this event!
How do I get this year’s Rescue Me t-shirt?
Runners receive a t-shirt with their $25 registration* and everyone who raises at least $25 will earn this year’s shirt! All volunteers will also receive this year’s shirt as a thank you. *(If there are more than two in a family 5k registration, additional shirts may be received for a suggested donation of $10 each.)
How do I turn in my fundraising?
Please be sure to check in at the CHECK-IN table when you arrive so that your pledge sheets can be processed. We will have a print-out of all funds raised online as of noon on Friday, so you will not need to print out your online fundraising page. We will be starting the 5k Run at 9:00 a.m. and the Walk for Life at 10:30 a.m.—be sure to arrive early so you can get checked in! Remember to bring all cash and checks you've collected with you. Fundraising prizes will be awarded after the 5k Awards (begins at 9:40) and before the Walk for Life.
What if it’s raining the day of Walk+Run?
Rain or shine we’ll be out there!
May I just walk or run without fundraising?
Yes! We use FundEasy for both registration and fundraising and your FundEasy account automatically sets a minimum fundraising goal of $100 but you may raise as much or as little as you like.
